The storage devices are one of the most important pieces of equipment in our computer. The prime reason being they hold some of our valuable data that is useful to our daily work. The type of computer could be immaterial, but the loss is always material.

The problems come in various guises and you normally tend to realize when it is already too late.

  • You know that there is some serious problem when:
  • Your computer refuses to go beyond the initial screen when you power it up. Your newly installed hardware is not recognized by your computer no matter what you try or do.
  • Your computer stares back at you stuck up on the current screen no matter what you do with your mouse or keyboard.
  • Your computer starts behaving erratically and gives you a feeling that it is not your computer already.

There are many more ways that erratically bring you closer to the ground reality of data loss. In all these two decades of \”personal computing\” or \”desktop computing\”, technology has surpassed expectations immeasurably. But all the advancements have only further compounded a problem of breakdowns in the machines. The major issue out of this compounded problem, regardless of size and complexity, is about the loss of data which is the most important of them all. Machines can be rebuilt and brought back to where they left off but it is the critical data that was stored in the machine at the time which will be of paramount importance.

Given the current scenario, it is not possible to predict when the machine can go bust. It might be well within a year or more than a year.

The data is the most important that needs our attention because the machine can be fixed but data cannot be unless we have a copy. The data should be copied to a secure location in intervals to make sure that once the data is continue reading…
